PocketFlock 1.1 Final For Windows and Mac OSX — PocketFlock Win Source
Posted by Dave Ferrite on 10 Mar 2008 at 08:52 am | Tagged as: Software
I uploaded versions of PocketFlock for Windows and OSX updated to include Flock 1.1 Final.
Older Versions will be automatically upgraded, so you don’t need to download these files if you have 1.0 or 1.1b.
I realized that I neglected to bundle the source of PocketFlock Win and since it’s based on GPL code… big no no. I’ve corrected this mistake and uploaded a separate .zip file containing the NSIS code written by John Haller that PocketFlock Win is based on ( I really need to replace this soon since it doesn’t play nice with Vista). I will be uploading the Mac source after I stabilize some features of it. (currently it’s a nasty cludge of bash scripts and ruby code held together with Platypus)

I'm broke
Thanks for creating PocketFlock. It’s great. I ran the Mac 1.1b version the other day and it was great. The Mac 1.1 version though seems a bit hesitant on launch and loading pages like twitter.com. Does it depend on what type of USB drive I use?
Oddly enough, it may or may not be an issue with your flash drive. I’ve gone and tested it on my harddrive with no issue and my Jumpdrive.
Did you update by downloading the new .app or via Flock’s auto-update?
Did you install any third-party extensions?
If you updated via Flock, feel free to send me the diagnostic info that pops up in the console and I might be able to tell you what’s going on.
Or if you installed extensions, please let me know post a copy of your PocketFlock.app/Contents/Resources/Profile/extensions.rdf
The more people who help me test and polish it, the better it’ll get.
Am I blind, stupid or what? I would love to try pocket flock, but I don’t see a download link for it. Help!
You’re not blind, stupid, or anything else, this theme doesn’t work so well for seperate page posts. I’m working on another one that’ll be a bit more custom.
There’s a small link on the left side of the main page
Try blog.itdunn.com/pocketflock or even the old page outraged-artists.com/flock (which is now just a redirect but I recommend against getting used to it)
Got it… Thanks!
I hope it’s not my flash drive. I just bought it for stuff like this. I did a direct download of Flock Mac 1.1 with no addons installed.
This is what the little terminal window says when running:
This has only been tested on my Core Duo MacBook Pro Running Leopard YMMV### MRJPlugin: getPluginBundle() here. ###
### MRJPlugin: CFBundleGetBundleWithIdentifier() succeeded. ###
### MRJPlugin: CFURLGetFSRef() succeeded. ###
My freezing issue happened on a MacBook under 10.4.9. No issues on an iMac under 10.5.1. Maybe they are only 10.5 compatible.
Weird…
basically it says that everything’s going fine…
I’ve tried, but have been unable to replicate your problem.
It shouldn’t be 10.5 only since I’m not using anything in PocketFlock that isn’t standard bash for the Application launcher (the ruby code is
mostlydisabled).From what it sounds like, Leopard works fine for you, and that’s the only Mac environment I can test in currently. Have you tried updating the MacBook to 10.4.11? According to Apple there are some fixes for freezing issues.
If you don’t want to update, try copying the PocketFlock.app bundle to your desktop to see if it runs better. If that’s the case then it might be a latency issue with your flash drive. Flock (and even PocketFlock) does a lot more work in the background than Firefox and might need more bandwidth.
Hi, is PocketFlock localized?
No, PocketFlock includes no localization.
Legally, I can only distribute PocketFlock with an unmodified Flock binary, meaning I cannot compile my own versions of Flock and name it Flock or PocketFlock.
Even if that were the case, I do not have the resources to compile my own binaries and distribute them. It is somewhat possible to get around this to produce a localised version, but my multilingual skills are lacking.
